Cloud Cuckoo Land?
Guest Speaker: Cathy Brown, BT

Ever wondered what 'cloud' is all about?  Puzzled at how it fits in with SOA, Grid, SaaS or virtualisation?  Don't really like to say, because everyone else seems to know what's going on?

Gartner consider Cloud Computing to be the most hyped subject in IT today, deeming it a 'transformative technology'.  This session aims to give you an understanding of Cloud Computing; where it's come from, where it is and where it's going.  We'll look at how it fits in with the other technology shifts we are seeing such as SOA, and cover the implications in terms of capacity management, security and other key management processes.

Cathy Brown is an Executive IT Auditor with BT. As well as her CISA accreditation, she holds the ITIL V3 Managers Certificate and COBIT accreditation. Cathy is a member of the British Standards Institute review panel for ISO20000 and is a regular speaker on IT Service Management, Auditing and Control activities

ABC of ERP GRC
Guest Speaker: Chris Burt, Halex Business Risk Services

Many organisations invest in ERP systems because they believe it will solve the challenge of needing reliable and efficient business processes married to clear and accurate management information.  However, as most IS auditors can testify, implementing an ERP is not a silver bullet to enhanced business performance.  On the contrary, most organisations implementing a new ERP suffer an initial dip in business performance and some loss of internal control.  This is where enterprise GRC (governance, risk & compliance) can be highly beneficial.

An effective enterprise GRC programme brings together the key elements of your organisation's GRC framework whilst leveraging the potential of your ERP system to deliver true performance management.  Chris Burt is expert in enterprise GRC and in this presentation he will outline the key elements of an effective enterprise GRC programme for ERP based organisations.  He will also provide real-world examples of the benefits that can be obtained from a well executed enterprise GRC programme, as well as
highlighting some of the common mistakes he has encountered.

Chris Burt is a director of Halex Business Risk Services, a company he founded in early 2009.  He is a highly experienced GRC consultant who has spent many years working for some of the largest professional services firms, including KPMG, Andersen and Deloitte.  Chris is a Chartered Accountant with an MSc in secure e-commerce from Royal Holloway (University of London) and is also CISA and CISSP certified.
